Product Specific Information

This MRRBY monoclonal antibody recognizes human and mouse mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR, also known as FRAP or RAFT) when phosphorylated on Ser2448.
mTOR is a serine/threonine kinase that functions as an ATP and amino acid sensor, balancing nutrient availability with cell growth, proliferation, motility, survival, protein synthesis, and transcription. Activated mTOR promotes glycolysis-related enzyme production and nutrient uptake, supporting energy demands for cell growth.

Phosphorylation at Ser2448 occurs via the PI3 kinase/Akt pathway, while Ser2481 is autophosphorylated. Dysregulation of mTOR is associated with tumorigenesis, making it a potential target for cancer therapy.

  • Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested

  • Pre-titrated and validated for intracellular staining of normal human peripheral blood cells.
  • Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.06 µg) per test (100 µL final volume; 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

FRAP1 (mTOR):
A serine/threonine kinase essential for cell growth and proliferation. Abnormal activity in the mTOR/PI3K/AKT pathway is linked to various cancers. FRAP1 is the molecular target of rapamycin and its analogs, used as immunosuppressants and anticancer agents. Mutations in FRAP1 are associated with Smith-Kingsmore syndrome.
