Product Specific Information
- Detects endogenous OATP1 protein at approximately 76 kDa.
- Purity >95% by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The organic anion transporting polypeptides (OATPs), including OATP-A (also known as OATP1, OATP1A2, SLC21A3) and OATP-C (OATP2, SLC21A6, LST1), mediate hepatic uptake of cardiac glycosides.
OATP-C expression is inducible by phenobarbital and pregnenolone-16α-carbonitrile, enhancing hepatic extraction of cardiac glycosides from plasma.
OATP-A is expressed in liver and kidney, facilitating sodium-independent uptake of anionic steroid conjugates such as dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, estradiol-17-glucuronide, and prostaglandin.
OATP-C is exclusively expressed in the liver and localized to the basolateral hepatocyte membrane.
