Target Information
TCEAL1 (Transcription elongation factor A (SII) protein 3), also known as p21, SIIR, or pp21, is a member of the TFS-II family.
These transcription elongation factors release RNA polymerase II (Pol II) from transcriptional arrest caused by DNA arresting sites.
They activate the intrinsic RNA cleavage activity of Pol II, allowing the polymerase to resume elongation by generating a new 3'-terminus.
TCEAL1 is a 157-amino acid nuclear protein that is ubiquitously expressed and may regulate transcription via protein-protein interactions rather than direct DNA binding.
