Phospho-PKC beta 1 (Thr642+Thr644) Antibody detects endogenous levels of PKC beta 1 only when phosphorylated at Thr642 and Thr644.
Target Information
The PKC family of serine/threonine kinases, including PRKCB1 (PKC beta I), is activated intracellularly by signal transduction pathways.
In humans, at least 12 different PKC polypeptides have been identified. These isoforms differ in structure, tissue distribution, localization, and function.
PKC alpha, beta I, beta II, and gamma form the conventional PKC family, which are Ca²⁺- and phospholipid-dependent. PKC can be activated by calcium and diacylglycerol and phosphorylates various protein targets, participating in diverse signaling pathways.
PKC family members also serve as major receptors for phorbol esters, known tumor promoters. Each member has distinct expression profiles and roles in cells.
The PKC beta-1 protein is involved in multiple cellular functions such as B cell activation, apoptosis induction, endothelial cell proliferation, and intestinal sugar absorption.
Mouse studies suggest additional roles in neuronal function and stress-related behavior. Alternative splicing results in distinct isoforms.
