Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes L3MBTL1 (Lethal(3)malignant brain tumor-like protein 1). It binds to a folded domain (amino acids 200–530).
L3MBTL1 is a Polycomb group (PcG) protein that specifically recognizes and binds mono- and dimethyllysine residues on target proteins, acting as a reader of post-translational modification networks.
Target Information
L3MBTL1 is the human homolog of a Drosophila protein that suppresses malignant transformation of neuroblasts and ganglion-mother cells in the brain.
It localizes to condensed chromosomes in mitotic cells. Overexpression in glioma cells leads to abnormal nuclear segregation and multinucleated cells.
L3MBTL1 functions as a Polycomb group protein regulating gene activity via chromatin modification.
Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms of the L3MBTL1 gene.
