The BTLA monoclonal antibody (clone MIH26) reacts with human B and T lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA).
BTLA is expressed by peripheral lymphocytes, splenic macrophages, developing B cells in the bone marrow, and developing T cells in the thymus. It is also expressed on mature, but not immature, bone marrow-derived dendritic cells.
BTLA functions as a negative regulator of activation and/or function of various hematopoietic cell types. It is reported to bind B7-H4, though further studies are needed to confirm this interaction.

Applications Reported:
This MIH26 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood. Recommended ≤0.5 µg per test (in 100 µL final volume). Cell number can range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Antibody titration is recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information

BTLA (B and T-lymphocyte attenuator) is a co-inhibitory receptor of the CD28 superfamily.
It functions as a lymphocyte inhibitory receptor, modulating immune responses.
BTLA is constitutively expressed on most CD4⁺ and CD8⁺ T cells, with expression decreasing upon T cell activation.
It remains expressed on Th1 cells but not Th2 cells.
BTLA interacts with HVEM (herpesvirus entry mediator), a TNF receptor superfamily member, forming an important pathway in lymphocyte activation and homeostasis regulation.
