Target Information
NR1H3 (oxysterols receptor LXR-alpha) is a nuclear receptor with ligand-dependent transcriptional activation activity. It interacts with retinoic acid receptor (RXR), converting RXR into an active ligand-binding subunit that mediates retinoid responses via LXRES target genes.
LXRES are DR4-type response elements characterized by direct repeats of two similar hexanucleotide half-sites spaced by four nucleotides.
NR1H3 plays a key role in cholesterol homeostasis by regulating cholesterol uptake through MYLIP-dependent ubiquitination of LDLR, VLDLR, and LRP8, and functionally interacts with RORA to regulate genes involved in liver metabolism.
