Target Information

DISC1 (Disrupted in Schizophrenia 1) is a multifunctional protein interacting with various centrosomal and cytoskeletal proteins, playing key roles in neuronal migration, neurite architecture, and intracellular transport.
It is expressed in regions such as the hippocampus, lateral septum, amygdala, cerebral cortex, cerebellum, and paraventricular hypothalamus.
Loss of DISC1 function is linked to structural brain differences and schizophrenia-associated chromosomal translocations.
DISC1 interacts with proteins like MIPT3, MAP1A, NUDEL, alpha-actinin 2, beta 4-spectrin, ATF-4, and ATF-5, implicating it in dendritic development and synapse formation.
