Target Information

TRPA1 is a TRP-related channel responsive to cold temperatures and pungent compounds, involved in nociceptor and hair cell transduction. It is expressed mainly in sensory neurons and lung epithelia and may serve as a therapeutic target for cold hyperalgesia. TRPA1 is also expressed outside the CNS and is dysregulated during oncogenic transformation. Structurally related to ankyrin and transmembrane proteins, TRPA1 may play roles in signal transduction and growth control.
