Product Specific Information

Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material. After reconstitution, keep aliquots at -20°C for higher stability, and at 4°C with an appropriate antibacterial agent. Glycerol (1:1) may be added for additional stability. Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles.

Target Information

Macroautophagy is the major inducible pathway for the general turnover of cytoplasmic constituents in eukaryotic cells. It is responsible for the degradation of active cytoplasmic enzymes and organelles during nutrient starvation. This process involves formation of double-membrane autophagosomes that enclose cytoplasmic constituents targeted for degradation. These autophagosomes fuse with lysosomes (or vacuoles), releasing autophagic bodies that are subsequently degraded. Apg9 plays a direct role in the formation of cytoplasm-to-vacuole targeting and autophagic vesicles, possibly serving as a marker for a specialized compartment essential for these vesicle-mediated alternative targeting pathways.
