This affinity purified antibody is directed against human beta 1 adrenergic receptor.
BLAST analysis indicates cross-reactivity with human, mouse, rat, and rhesus macaque based on 100% sequence homology.

Target Information

Adrenergic receptors (ARs) are members of the 7-transmembrane domain G-protein-coupled receptor superfamily that bind endogenous catecholamines (epinephrine and norepinephrine).
Nine receptor subtypes are identified:

  • Alpha-1 ARs: 1A/D, 1B, 1C
  • Alpha-2 ARs: 2A, 2B, 2C
  • Beta ARs: 1, 2, 3

ARs are involved in disease states such as hypertension, cardiac dysfunction, diabetes, glaucoma, depression, and impotence.
Beta ARs (BARs) regulate development, behavior, cardiac function, smooth muscle tone, and metabolism.
Knockout studies show that absence of the B1AR gene leads to prenatal lethality or abnormal cardiac function in adult mice.
Thyroid hormones regulate cardiac B1AR density at the transcriptional level via catecholamine-sensitive adenylyl cyclase and cAMP-mediated CREM transcription factors.
