Product Specific Information

The eBioSY11B5 monoclonal antibody recognizes human CD157 (Mo5, BST-1). CD157 is a 42–45 kDa, GPI-anchored protein structurally and functionally similar to CD38. Initially identified on monocytes and macrophages, it was later found to be identical to BST-1, expressed on bone marrow stromal cells and capable of stimulating pre-B cell proliferation.

CD157 functions both as an ectoenzyme and receptor, involved in NAD⁺ metabolism and intracellular Ca²⁺ regulation. Upon ligand binding, CD157 may trigger signal transduction cascades leading to phosphorylation of cytoplasmic proteins such as focal adhesion kinase (FAK). The detailed mechanism remains under investigation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting (non-reduced), and immunohistology of frozen sections.
Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells at ≤0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Titrate as needed for optimal assay performance.

Target Information

Bone marrow stromal cell antigen 1 (BST1) is a GPI-anchored molecule facilitating pre-B cell growth. Also known as ADP-ribosyl cyclase 2 and DAMP-1, BST1 expression is enhanced in bone marrow stromal cells from rheumatoid arthritis patients. BST1 overexpression may contribute to polyclonal B cell abnormalities in rheumatoid arthritis.
