Product Specific Information
The 16B1 antibody reacts with human CD144, also known as VE-cadherin and cadherin-5. VE-cadherin, a 140 kDa calcium-dependent adhesion molecule, is localized at intercellular boundaries of endothelial cells in blood and lymphatic vessels. It is involved in vascular permeability and remodeling.
Applications Reported:
Flow cytometry, Western blot, microscopy, and immunocytochemistry without fixation.
Applications Tested:
Validated by immunoblotting Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cell (HUVEC) lysates. Optimal dilution should be determined experimentally.

Target Information
VE-cadherin is a calcium-dependent adhesion glycoprotein of the cadherin superfamily. It consists of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane domain, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. It plays a crucial role in endothelial cell cohesion and organization of intercellular junctions. Located on chromosome 16, it is associated with loss of heterozygosity events in certain cancers. An alternative splice variant has been described.
