Product Specific Information

Description:
The IM7 monoclonal antibody reacts with all isoforms of mouse CD44 (Pgp-1). CD44 is expressed by hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells highly express this antigen, and peripheral B and T cells can upregulate CD44 expression. CD44 functions as an adhesion molecule through its binding to hyaluronate, an extracellular matrix component.

Applications Reported:
IM7 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis and complement-dependent cytotoxicity.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse bone marrow cells and splenocytes. Can be used at ≤0.125 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number should be empirically determined (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Antibody titration recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information

CD44 is a 100 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein widely expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and some epithelial cells. It serves as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA), mediating cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration. CD44 plays roles in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing, and may be upregulated in certain carcinomas linked to metastasis. Multiple isoforms arise via alternative splicing, contributing to functional diversity. CD44 dysfunction is associated with conditions such as superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus.
