Product Specific Information
This Hermes-1 clone targets human, rabbit, goat, bovine, and ovine CD44, but does not demonstrate reactivity toward mouse CD44.
This antibody is a functional grade (endotoxin-tested, azide-free) form of Product # MA4400.
- Applications Reported: Functional assays. (Fluorochrome-conjugated Hermes-1 is recommended for flow cytometry.)
- Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended ≤0.06 µg/test (100 µL final volume).
Cell number can range from 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test and should be empirically determined.
Titrate antibody for optimal performance. - Endotoxin: <0.001 ng/µg antibody (LAL assay)

Target Information
CD44 is a 100 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein widely expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and epithelial cells of the intestine and breast.
It serves as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and mediates cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration.
CD44 plays roles in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing, and its expression may increase in certain carcinomas, potentially linked to metastasis.
Multiple isoforms exist due to complex alternative splicing, contributing to structural and functional diversity.
Diseases associated with CD44 dysfunction include superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus.
