Product Specific Information

Recombinant Rat monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These antibodies are generated from specific genes coding for the desired antibody, cloned into an expression vector and expressed in vitro. Recombinant antibodies offer improved specificity and lot-to-lot consistency.
It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.

Target Information

Ki-67 is a nuclear protein expressed during various stages of the cell cycle, particularly during late G1, S, G2, and M phases. It contains a forkhead associated domain (FHA) that interacts with euchromatin at the perichromosomal layer, centromeric heterochromatin, and nucleolus.
Ki-67 shows cell cycle-dependent distribution: perinucleolar expression at G1, nuclear matrix localization at G2, and chromosomal association during M phase.
Because it is absent in G0 cells and increases steadily through mitosis, Ki-67 serves as a reliable proliferation marker. Ki-67 antibodies help determine the growth fraction in neoplasms and correlate with tumor grade and prognosis. It is also used as a neuronal marker of cell cycling and proliferation.
