While cell culture mediums do their best, cells often need a little extra support from cell culture supplements to overcome stressful processes such as cryopreservation, revival, single cell isolation, and expansion to larger shaking vessels.

Once opened, how long do I have before my cell culture supplement expires?

Once opened, the cell culture supplements are viable for the full shelf life specified on the Certificate of Analysis.

Are any of the cell culture supplements light sensitive?

No, none of the cell culture supplements are sensitive to light exposure.

Does filtering the cell culture supplements impact their performance?

No, filtering the cell culture supplements will not affect their performance. All cell culture supplements are supplied sterile so there is no need to filter them in this respect. However, if you are using InstiGRO for single cell cloning, we do recommend that you filter your cloning medium + InstiGRO mix before starting single cell seeding.

Where are the cell culture supplements manufactured?

All our cell culture supplements are manufactured at our facility in the Southwest of the United Kingdom.

Does Advanced Instruments manufacture and sell GMP grade cell culture supplements?

Are the Insti cell culture supplements compatible with adherent CHO and HEK cell lines?

Do you experience any lot to lot variability?

No, each batch of cell culture supplements is subject to stringent quality control checks to ensure that there is no lot-to-lot variability.

What quantity sizes are cell culture supplements available in?

InstiGRO CHO, InstiGRO CHO PLUS, and InstiGRO HEK are all available in both 5 mL and 25 mL quantities. InstiSHAKE CHO and HEK are only available in 25 mL quantities, while InstiTHAW CHO and HEK are only available in 5 mL quantities.

Does InstiGRO need to be used in combination with a specific medium or supplement?

No, simply add InstiGRO to your standard outgrowth medium, including any other additives or selective agents which are usually used.

I have used InstiGRO during my single cell seeding experiment. Do I need to keep adding the InstiGRO to the medium as I expand the clones?

While InstiGRO will continue to support the cells as they progress through static culture expansion, there is no need to keep adding the supplement if your clones are established and are growing well. Simply expand cells to the next culture vessel in their standard cell culture medium. There is no need to gradually ween the cells from InstiGRO’s support.

Do I need to prime my cells first before using InstiGRO in my single cell seeding experiment?

Yes, as detailed on the Instructions for Use (IFU) document, cells should be cultured with a 1X concentration of InstiGRO for 4-24 hours prior to single cell seeding.

Does InstiSHAKE need to be used in combination with a specific medium or supplement?

No, simply add InstiSHAKE to your standard medium, including any other additives or selective agents which are usually used.

What is the differences between InstiGRO CHO and InstiGRO CHO PLUS? Which should I order?

While InstiGRO CHO and CHO PLUS are both designed to support clonal outgrowth, the formulations are slightly different to cater for different cell lines and growth mediums. It is often difficult to predict which formulation will work best. We therefore recommend that all new customers evaluate clonal outgrowth with both formulations before deciding how to proceed.

Does InstiTHAW replace the need for DMSO?

No, InstiTHAW does not replace DMSO. InstiTHAW should be considered as an additional supplement to your standard cryoprotective solution.
