Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.

Target Information

MUC1 (Mucin 1, Episialin, MAM-6, CA 15-3, PEM, EMA) is a large cell surface mucin glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells and some hematopoietic cell lineages.
It is a transmembrane glycoprotein with a large mucin-like extracellular domain, undergoing proteolytic processing and extensive O-linked glycosylation.
MUC1 is highly polymorphic, with alleles encoding different repeat numbers (30–90), resulting in variable molecular weights.
It is abundantly expressed in >90% of breast carcinomas and metastases.
Overexpression, aberrant intracellular localization, and altered glycosylation are associated with carcinomas.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, with several full-length isoforms identified.
Transgenic MUC1 has been shown to associate with all four cebB receptors and localize with erbB1 (EGFR) in lactating glands.
