Product Specific Information

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems by cloning antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

Eukaryotic cells contain three types of prenyltransferases that attach either a farnesyl group (15 carbons) or a geranylgeranyl group (20 carbons) via thioether linkage to C-terminal cysteine residues in various proteins. These posttranslational modifications enable membrane localization of proteins lacking transmembrane domains.

CAAX farnesyltransferase (FTase) transfers a farnesyl group from farnesyl pyrophosphate to cysteine residues at the fourth position from the C terminus of proteins ending in the CAAX box (C = cysteine, A = aliphatic amino acid, X = typically methionine or serine). The FNTB gene, encoding the beta subunit of FTase, is located at 14q23–q24 in humans.
