Target Information
RPS6KA5 (MSK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase essential for regulating various cellular processes. It mediates mitogen- or stress-induced phosphorylation of transcription factors such as CREB1 and ATF1, and regulates RELA, STAT3, and ETV1/ER81.
MSK1 contributes to gene activation via histone phosphorylation and regulates inflammatory gene expression. It phosphorylates CREB1 and ATF1 in response to stimuli like UV-C irradiation, EGF, and anisomycin.
In skeletal myoblasts, MSK1 is required for RELA phosphorylation at Ser-276 during oxidative stress. In erythropoietin-stimulated cells, it mediates Ser-727 phosphorylation of STAT3, influencing transcriptional potential.
