Product Specific Information

The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

Heterotrimeric G proteins relay information from cell surface receptors to intracellular effectors. Each receptor detects specific extracellular stimuli such as photons, pheromones, odorants, hormones, or neurotransmitters, while effectors like adenyl cyclase generate intracellular messengers.
In mammals, G protein α, β, and γ subunits are encoded by at least 16, 4, and 7 genes, respectively. Gα subunits bind and hydrolyze GTP, regulating effector activity. Four distinct classes of Gα subunits exist: Gs, Gi, Gq, and Gα12/13.
The Gi class includes α subunits susceptible to pertussis toxin modification, such as Gαi-1, Gαi-2, Gαi-3, Gαo, Gαt1, Gαt2, Gαz, and Gαgust. Among these, the three Gαi subtypes function to open atrial potassium channels.
