Target Information
The PTGER1 protein is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family and acts as one of four receptors for prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). It mediates receptor activity through a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system involving G-Q proteins. Knockout studies in mice indicate roles in pain mediation, blood pressure regulation, and adrenocorticotropic hormone response to bacterial endotoxin.
