This antibody detects endogenous levels of Caspase 1 only when phosphorylated at Ser376.
Target Information
Caspases are a family of cysteine proteases divided into apoptotic and inflammatory subfamilies. Unlike apoptotic caspases, inflammatory caspases are generally not involved in cell death but in immune responses to microbial pathogens. Members include caspase-1, -4, -5, and -12, which can activate proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-18. Caspase-1 was first identified as an IL-1β-converting enzyme and later found to be a mammalian homolog of the C. elegans cell death gene ced-3, capable of inducing apoptosis upon overexpression.
