Antibody detects endogenous levels of hnRNP K only when phosphorylated at Ser284.
Target Information
This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are RNA-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and influence pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport.
While most hnRNPs are nuclear, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. The encoded protein localizes to the nucleoplasm and contains three KH domains that bind RNAs, showing a strong preference for poly(C). It is also implicated in cell cycle progression. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, though not all are fully characterized.
