Target Information
XPD is involved with the nucleotide excision repair pathway that repairs DNA damage. The encoded protein participates in transcription-coupled nucleotide excision repair and is a component of the basal transcription factor BTF2/TFIIH complex. It has ATP-dependent DNA helicase activity and belongs to the RAD3/XPD helicase subfamily. Mutations in this gene can cause xeroderma pigmentosum complementation group D, trichothiodystrophy, or Cockayne syndrome. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
