Target Information
이 유전자는 cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) 계열의 단백질을 암호화합니다.
Caspase의 연속적 활성화는 세포사멸(apoptosis)의 실행 단계에서 중심적인 역할을 합니다.
Caspase 3는 비활성 전구체 형태로 존재하며, 절단 후 활성 효소로 전환됩니다.
이 단백질은 caspase-6, -7, -9를 절단 및 활성화하며, caspase-8, -9, -10에 의해 절단됩니다.
또한 Alzheimer’s disease와 관련된 amyloid-beta 4A 전구체 단백질 절단에 관여합니다.
대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 동일 단백질을 암호화하는 두 가지 전사 변이가 존재합니다.
