Target Information
CpG methylation is an epigenetic modification essential for embryonic development, imprinting, and X-chromosome inactivation. The DNMT3B gene encodes a DNA methyltransferase involved in de novo methylation. The protein localizes mainly to the nucleus, and its expression is developmentally regulated. Mutations in this gene are associated with immunodeficiency-centromeric instability-facial anomalies (ICF) syndrome. Six alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified, though full-length sequences of variants 4 and 5 remain undetermined.
