이 단백질은 apoptosis 유도, pro-caspase-9 성숙, NIK 및 IKK를 통한 NF-kappa-B 활성화를 촉진합니다.
또한 TNFR1-TRADD-RIP 복합체와 NIK-IKK-IKAP 복합체 사이의 어댑터 단백질 역할을 하며, MALT1의 기질입니다.
유전자 변이는 면역결핍증 37형 또는 점막 관련 림프종(MALT lymphoma)을 유발할 수 있습니다.
