Target Information

Kruppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) protein is encoded by the KLF4 gene located on chromosome 9 in humans. Also known as gut-enriched Kruppel-like factor (GKLF) or epithelial zinc-finger protein (EZF), it belongs to a conserved family of DNA-binding zinc finger transcription factors.
KLF4 plays a significant role in various cellular pathways and is one of the four Yamanaka factors, essential for reprogramming differentiated cells into pluripotent stem cells. It is involved in processes such as endothelial signaling, adipogenesis, differentiation, embryogenesis, and cell cycle regulation.
The localization of KLF4 determines its biological role: nuclear localization is often associated with oncogenic activity, whereas cytosolic localization can be linked to tumor-suppressive effects.
