Product Specific Information
The PA1-32415 immunogen is a synthetic peptide derived from the extracellular domain (residues 230–380) of Scavenger Receptor-BI/BII, expressed as two tandem copies in bacteria using the pET system.
Store product as a concentrated solution and centrifuge briefly prior to opening the vial.
Target Information
High density lipoproteins (HDLs) are key regulators of cholesterol metabolism, with plasma concentrations inversely correlated to atherosclerosis risk.
SR-BI and SR-BII (also known as SR-BI.2) are alternatively spliced variants of the same gene, differing only in their C-terminal cytoplasmic domain.
Both bind HDL and mediate selective uptake of HDL cholesteryl ester, with SR-BII showing ~4-fold lower efficiency than SR-BI.
These receptors are mainly expressed in liver and steroidogenic tissues.
SR-BII mRNA arises from alternative splicing of SR-BI precursor transcripts, both isoforms mediating selective lipid transfer between HDL and cells.
Relative expression and activity of SR-BI and SR-BII may regulate lipid exchange between HDL and cells.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
