Target Information
The CCAAT-binding factor NF-Y is a heteromeric transcription factor that specifically binds to CCAAT sequences in many eukaryotic genes. NF-Y consists of three subunits: NF-YA, NF-YB, and NF-YC, all required for DNA binding. The conserved segments in each subunit are homologous to the histone-fold motifs of eukaryotic histones. The DNA-binding domains of NF-YB and NF-YC interact through a histone-fold “handshake” motif, similar to histone H2B and H2A interactions.
