Cathepsin L은 약 25 kDa의 heavy chain과 5 kDa의 light chain으로 구성된 리소좀성 cysteine protease입니다. 다양한 세포 유형에서 발현되며, 세포외기질 단백질을 분해할 수 있어 종양 진행, 전이, 류마티스 관절염 및 신경퇴행성 질환 등 세포외기질 파괴가 주요 병리 원인인 질환에서 중요한 역할을 합니다.
