This antigen is expressed in mucosal lymphoid tissue and lamina propria, serving as a counter-receptor for CD62L and CD49d.
MAdCAM-1 plays a crucial role in homing of memory T cells to the gut lamina propria and in recirculation of naive lymphocytes within Peyer’s patches and mesenteric lymph nodes.

Applications tested include ELISA, Functional Studies (Blocking), and Western Blotting.

Target Information

The encoded protein is an endothelial cell adhesion molecule that interacts preferentially with leukocyte beta7 integrin LPAM-1 (α4β7), L-selectin, and VLA-4 (α4β1) on myeloid cells, directing leukocytes into mucosal and inflamed tissues.
It belongs to the immunoglobulin family and is structurally related to ICAM1 and VCAM1.
At least seven alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been identified, though the full-length nature of some variants remains undetermined.
