Target Information
EEF2K (Eukaryotic Elongation Factor 2 Kinase) is a highly conserved serine/threonine kinase involved in the calmodulin signaling pathway. Its activity is increased in several cancers, including breast cancer.
EEF2K phosphorylates elongation factor EEF2 at a single site, preventing EEF2 from binding ribosomes and thereby reducing the rate of protein synthesis. Activation occurs via upstream kinases such as AMPK or TRPM7.
