Target Information
Alpha Tubulin forms a heterodimer with beta Tubulin, each approximately 55 kDa, constituting the basic building block of microtubules. These intracellular filamentous structures are found in nearly all eukaryotic cells and serve as structural supports and transport pathways, playing a crucial role in mitosis.
Microtubules are composed mainly of alpha and beta Tubulin, while gamma Tubulin assists in microtubule nucleation. Alpha and beta Tubulin genes are highly conserved among species, with alpha Tubulin closely related to mouse and rat Tuba1 genes. Expression is predominantly observed in differentiated neurologic cells.
