EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor)는 다양한 성장인자에 반응하는 수용체 티로신 키나아제로, 과발현 시 여러 종류의 암과 관련되어 있습니다. EGFR 유전자는 인간 염색체 7번에 위치하며, HER/ErbB 단백질 패밀리(ERbB2, ERbB3, ERbB4)를 구성합니다. EGF 또는 TGF-α와 같은 리간드가 결합하면 EGFR 이량체화 및 세포질 도메인 내 티로신 잔기의 자가인산화가 유도됩니다. 이러한 과정은 두경부, 뇌, 방광, 위, 유방, 폐, 자궁내막, 자궁경부, 외음부, 난소, 식도 및 편평세포암 등 다양한 종양에서 과발현되어 관찰됩니다.
