Product Specific Information

• Specificity: HSV-1 & HSV-2, specific for thymidine kinase.
• Purified preparations consist of >90% pure mouse monoclonal antibody purified from ascites fluid by protein A chromatography.
• Final formulation: 100 µg/mL in 0.01 M phosphate-buffered saline (pH 7.2) containing 0.1% sodium azide.
• Each vial contains 1.0 mL.
• Contains no stabilizing proteins; store at 4°C until use.
• Working dilution should be determined by the user.
• Suggested starting ranges: 1:10–1:50 for ICC/IF, 1:20–1:200 for ELISA.

Target Information

Herpes Simplex Virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1, HSV-2), also known as Human Herpes Virus 1 and 2 (HHV-1, HHV-2), are highly contagious to humans.

• HSV-1 commonly causes cold sores, while HSV-2 is associated with genital herpes.
• Transmission occurs when the virus is actively shedding.
• The virion contains a large double-stranded linear DNA genome within a capsid and viral envelope.
• HSV strains encode over 70 open reading frames (ORFs).
• HSV has been associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
