Target Information
Centromeres are specialized chromosomal domains that determine the mitotic behavior of chromosomes.
CENPA encodes a centromere protein containing a histone H3-related histone fold domain essential for centromere targeting.
CENPA is thought to form a modified nucleosome-like structure where it replaces one or both histone H3 copies in the (H3-H4)₂ tetrameric core.
