Target Information

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a surface parasite of human respiratory and urogenital tracts and is often the causative agent of community-acquired pneumonia.
Its affinity for respiratory epithelial cells and secretion of hydrogen peroxide result in oxidative tissue damage.
Although they are the simplest and smallest self-replicating bacteria, Mycoplasma infections tend to be persistent, difficult to detect, diagnose, and cure.
