Stability of F` Plasmid and α-Complementation

Less than 1% of white colonies appeared when transformed with pUC19 (JM109) or pUC119 (BMH71-18 mutS, MV1184) and plated on L-agar with 100 µg/ml ampicillin, 0.2 mM IPTG, and 40 µg/ml X-Gal.E. coli CJ236
Strains lacking F` plasmid (pCJ105) do not grow on plates containing chloramphenicol at 30 µg/ml.E. coli DH5α
Blue colonies appeared when transformed with pUC19 and plated on L-agar containing 100 µg/ml ampicillin and 40 µg/ml X-Gal.
