The SMARTer Stranded Total RNA-Seq Kit v3 - Pico Input Mammalian is designed for efficient preparation of Illumina sequencing libraries from picogram input amounts (250 pg–10 ng) of total RNA, including high-quality, partially degraded, or low-quality samples such as FFPE or LCM-derived RNA.
This updated version improves sequencing performance across all Illumina platforms and seamlessly integrates unique molecular identifiers (UMIs) into the library preparation workflow.

Workflow Overview

The kit retains strand information and incorporates indexes and adapters during reverse transcription and PCR amplification.
Library preparation and purification are completed within ~7.5 hours using an improved buffer formulation.

Kit Compatibility

This kit includes the SMARTer RNA Unique Dual Index Kit - 24U (Cat. #634451) and can also be used with other SMARTer RNA Unique Dual Index Kits (Cat. #634452 & #634457; sold separately) for larger reaction sizes, enabling up to 192 Illumina index combinations.
