Product Specific Information
Reconstitute with 0.1 mL of distilled water.
Prior to reconstitution, store at 4°C. After reconstitution, store undiluted at -20°C, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
This antibody may be used in Western blotting applications under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Goat anti-human VEGF antibody recognizes human VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor), a heparin-binding cytokine and member of the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family, which exists as several splice variants of the VEGF gene.
Target Information
VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) is a 45 kDa homodimeric, disulfide-linked glycoprotein involved in angiogenesis, promoting tumor progression and metastasis.
It affects vascular endothelium by promoting endothelial cell viability, mitogenesis, chemotaxis, and vascular permeability.
The VEGF family includes:
- VEGF-A
- VEGF-B
- VEGF-C
- VEGF-D
- VEGF-E
- PlGF
VEGF and its receptor system (VEGFR-1/flt-1 and VEGFR-2/flk-1/KDR) are key regulators of angiogenesis signaling, expressed mainly on endothelial cells.
Alternative splicing of the VEGF gene produces five isoforms with distinct biological roles.
An alternately spliced form of FLT1 generates a soluble receptor (sFLT1) that binds VEGF with high affinity and inhibits angiogenesis.
Elevated VEGF levels are associated with POEMS syndrome (Polyneuropathy, Organomegaly, Endocrinopathy, Monoclonal gammopathy, Skin changes), also known as Crow-Fukase syndrome, affecting multiple organs.
