Target Information
TNFRSF14 is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily and acts as a cellular mediator of herpes simplex virus (HSV) entry. Binding of HSV glycoprotein D (gD) to TNFRSF14 is part of the viral entry mechanism. The cytoplasmic region of TNFRSF14 interacts with TRAF family members, mediating signal transduction pathways that activate immune responses. Activation in T cells promotes proliferation and cytokine production, contributing to inflammation and enhanced CTL-mediated tumor immunity. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though not all full-length forms have been characterized.
