Target Information
CD244 (also known as 2B4 or SLAMF4) is a cell surface receptor expressed on natural killer (NK) cells and some T cells. It mediates non-MHC restricted killing and interacts with SLAMF2, activating both SLAMF4- and SLAMF2-expressing cells. Reduced SLAMF4 expression has been observed in NK cells and monocytes of systemic lupus erythematosus patients, implying a role in autoimmune pathology. CD244 dysfunction is associated with rheumatoid arthritis and lymphoproliferative syndrome. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist.
