Product Specific Information

Description:
The sym0F1 monoclonal antibody reacts with human and mouse c-Maf, a 42 kDa basic leucine zipper transcription factor involved in neural, ocular, and hematopoietic systems. In hematopoietic cells, c-Maf is crucial for IL-4 expression in Th2 cells and plays a role in Th17 and Tfh cell differentiation and function by driving IL-21 expression and promoting IL-23R and CXCR5 expression.

Sym0F1 does not cross-react with MafA or MafB.

Applications Reported:
Suitable for intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometry of Th17-polarized mouse splenocytes using the Foxp3/Transcription Factor Staining Buffer Set (Product #00-5523-00) and protocol.
Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.06 µg)/test in a final volume of 100 µL.
Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test (empirically determined).
Excitation: 488–561 nm; Emission: 578 nm; Laser: Blue, Green, Yellow-Green.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.


Target Information

c-Maf is the cellular counterpart of oncogenic v-maf, belonging to the basic region leucine zipper transcription factor family. It interacts with LRPICD and exists in two forms (long and short). c-Maf regulates IL-4 in Th2 cells, crystalline genes in lens fiber cells, insulin gene in islets, and p53/L7 through Maf recognition element (MARE). It plays a key role in Th2 differentiation, hematopoiesis, and IL-10 gene expression in LPS-activated macrophages. Chromosomal aberrations involving maf occur in multiple myeloma, and expression is observed in myeloma cell lines and resting monocytes/macrophages.
