Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of p27 Kip1 only when phosphorylated at Threonine 198.
Target Information
p27 Kip1 functions as a negative regulator of G1 phase progression and may mediate TGFβ-induced G1 arrest. It is an important regulator of cell cycle progression and a potent inhibitor of cyclin E- and cyclin A-CDK2 complexes.
p27 Kip1 forms complexes with cyclin D-CDK4 and modulates their activation depending on its phosphorylation state. The protein (~27 kDa) undergoes CDK-dependent phosphorylation and ubiquitination by SCF complexes, which is essential for the transition from quiescence to proliferation.
