The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).

Target Information

Interphotoreceptor retinol-binding protein (IRBP) is a large glycoprotein that binds retinoids and is found primarily in the interphotoreceptor matrix of the retina, between the retinal pigment epithelium and photoreceptor cells.
It is thought to transport retinoids between these structures, playing a critical role in the visual process.

The human IRBP gene (~9.5 kbp) consists of four exons separated by three introns (1.6–1.9 kbp). It is transcribed into a ~4.3 kb mRNA that encodes a glycosylated protein of ~135 kDa.
The amino acid sequence comprises four contiguous homology domains (33–38% identity), suggesting gene duplication events.
The first large exon (3,180 bp) encodes the first three domains and part of the fourth, with the remaining portion encoded by the last three exons (191, 143, and ~740 bp).
