This antibody has been demonstrated to block activation of monocytes with LPS.
Target Information
TLR4 is a member of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family, playing a key role in pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity. TLRs are conserved from Drosophila to humans and share structural and functional similarities.
TLR4 is most abundantly expressed in placenta and myelomonocytic leukocytes. It forms part of the LPS receptor complex with CD14 and LY96, mediating immune signaling against gram-negative bacteria.
Mutations in TLR4 can alter LPS responsiveness. TLR4 is expressed by peripheral blood monocytes, some B-cells, and placenta. TLR4-deficient mice show increased susceptibility to Gram-negative sepsis.
