Target Information
Arylsulfatase F (ARSF) is a 590 amino acid secretory protein belonging to the sulfatase family. It utilizes calcium as a cofactor to catalyze reactions essential for maintaining bone composition. Unlike Arylsulfatase E, its activity is not inhibited by warfarin.
The ARSF gene is located on the human X chromosome, which spans approximately 153 million base pairs and contains over 1,000 genes. Abnormalities in sex chromosomes (X and Y) can lead to conditions such as Turner’s syndrome, color blindness, hemophilia, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
