Product Specific Information

Reconstitute the lyophilized powder with deionized water (or equivalent) to an antibody concentration of 0.5 mg/mL.

Neuron specific β-Tubulin III (tubulin beta-4) is a major constituent of microtubules and forms dimers of alpha and beta chains. One mole of tubulin binds two moles of GTP—one at an exchangeable site on the beta chain and one at a non-exchangeable site on the alpha chain.

Neuron specific β-Tubulin III is a well-established neuron-specific marker. Its expression is implicated in neuronal commitment in primitive neuroepithelium and increases during cancer formation, leading to the development of anti-tubulin drugs.

This antibody labels neuronal cell bodies, dendrites, axons, and axonal terminations, and is used to identify newly committed neurons. It also serves as an excellent loading control when normalizing data specifically for neuronal expression.

Target Information

The betaIII-tubulin isoform is predominantly expressed in cells of neuronal origin and is one of the earliest markers of neuronal differentiation. It serves as a specific probe for neuronal cells and tumours derived from them. BetaIII-tubulin is most abundant in neuronal cells but can also be detected in Sertoli cells of the testis and transiently in non-neuronal embryonic tissues.
